Program “First Steps in the World of Personal Finance”: Innovative Approaches in Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Education

I. Program Description

The program is designed for teachers and educators working at the primary and lower secondary levels of school education.

It presents innovative approaches, materials, and tools for developing students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the field of financial literacy. The program addresses topics such as self-awareness, the role and place of the individual within the family and the community, rights and responsibilities, basic financial and economic literacy covering fundamental aspects of economic life, production and professions, introductory financial planning and budgeting, saving, and spending money. At the same time, it supports the development of a broad range of key competencies among students—entrepreneurial, social and civic, mathematical, and language competencies. It fosters critical thinking, teamwork skills, presentation skills, communication, and creativity.

During the training, educators will acquire knowledge and develop skills for teaching and building these key competencies. The delivery of knowledge and skills is based on the pedagogical approaches “Learning through Experience” and “Learning through Play,” as well as through role-playing and drama. The application of these innovative approaches ensures active student involvement and a high level of engagement in the process of acquiring new knowledge. They are an effective motivational tool, as they reveal the importance of knowledge for making sound decisions and for addressing specific real-life situations. The program is designed to enable active interaction between teachers and parents and to position the school as a center of the community.

Teacher training includes both theoretical preparation and practical activities through demonstrations and participation in activities.
