Knowledge and Fun through Financial Workshops

As a rule, finance is perceived as a complex and boring topic. No one wants to listen to tedious lectures. Our approach offers a solution to this problem. Instead of boring lessons, we introduce games, experiential learning through real-life situations, teamwork, and online exploration.

At the same time, their application supports the development of skills that are especially important for the 21st centurycritical thinking, teamwork skills, presentation skills, information search and analysis skills, digital skills, communication, and creativity.

What Are Financial Workshops for Teenagers?

The Themes

They cover the most important aspects of personal finance management—budgeting, use of borrowed funds, investments, risk management, and pension provision. But not only that. Through the lens of personal finance, the workshops also address topics such as education, first job, traveling abroad, and one theme is dedicated to issues that concern every young person—love and friendship.

For each of the 10 themes, a short informational text, a glossary of terms, and two or three workshops have been developed.

The Workshops

They are structured as scenarios containing information and guidance for conducting active learning activities. Each workshop is accompanied by supporting materials that can be easily copied and used.

Who Is the Guide Intended For?

For teachers and facilitators working with students in the upper secondary level (grades 9–12).

Are There Rules for Using the Guide?

There is freedom of choice. Teachers can freely select the themes and workshops they wish to conduct, according to students’ interests and their own possibilities. At their discretion, they may also adapt and further develop the proposed scenarios.

Our practice shows that the workshops are widely used across different school subjects. In addition to subjects with an economic/financial profile, they are applied in language studies, mathematics, information technologies, literature, and even physical education. They are also widely used during homeroom classes.
